Our rich, well oaked Cabernet Sauvignon brims with fancy ripe black currant, roasted coffee bean and bitter dark chocolate flavors, all framed in suave tannins. It feels lush and creamy in the mouth and for all the fruitiness, is completely dry, lasting for a long tie on the finish. Master vintner, Ben O’Daniel, has crafted a sensational wine from a sensational vintage. Using grapes from throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky it shows his discernment in the overall balance, harmony and charm necessary for good winemaking. This intricately structured wine will probably hold for 10 years but is delightful now in its flamboyant, exuberant youth. Try it with a lovely Prime Rib with Bordelaise Sauce.

In 1798, Kentucky was the site of America's first commercial vineyard planted by the winemaker for the Marquis de Lafeyette. By the late 1800's, Kentucky was the third largest grape and wine producer in the United States. Then came Prohibition which hit the Kentucky wine industry hard just like it did in many other states. Many of the vineyards then in Kentucky were either uprooted and converted to cash crops or they were abandoned. Today of course the story is much different.
