Kentucky's Winemaking Legacy
Did you know that Kentucky was the first state in the US to have a commercial winery before Prohibition? At Elk Creek Vineyards, we take pride in our role as part of this rich winemaking history. When we opened our doors in 2006, Kentucky had only four small farm wineries. As of 2021, that number has grown to an impressive 65. Elk Creek Vineyards stands out as a winery that rivals many located in the esteemed Napa Valley. As a testament to our dedication, we produced Kentucky's first Estate Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Sangiovese wines.

Elk Creek Vineyards is conveniently located in Owenton, Kentucky, just one hour's drive from Lexington, KY, Louisville, KY, or Cincinnati, OH. We are situated at the intersection of Highways 227 & 330. If you are using GPS, please input the following coordinates: 38.502824, -84.788232. From Cincinnati (57 miles)
Freeway (via I-71 South)
Take Interstate 71 South toward Louisville.
Take Exit 57 (Sparta/Warsaw) onto Hwy 35.
Turn left and follow Hwy 35 to Owenton.
Once in Owenton, go through 3 traffic lights.
Turn right at the flashing yellow light onto 227 South.
Follow Hwy 227 for two miles until you reach Hwy 330 East.
The winery will be on your left.
The Scenic Route (via I-75)
Take Interstate 75 South to exit 159 Dry Ridge/Owenton.
Turn right onto KY-22 Taft Highway and continue for approximately 19 miles.
Turn left onto KY-227 S / Georgetown Road and drive for 2 miles.
Turn left onto KY-330.
Elk Creek Winery will be on your left.
From Louisville (78 miles)
Option 1
Take Interstate 71 North to Highway 35 Exit 57 (Sparta Warsaw).
Stay straight for 17 miles, then turn right onto Highway 227 South.
After 2 miles, turn left onto Highway 330.
The winery will be on your left.
Option 2 (through Frankfort)
Take Interstate 64 East to Exit 53 at Frankfort.
Follow Highway 127 North to the intersection with Hwy 22 and turn right.
Turn right onto Hwy 227 South.
After 2 miles, turn left onto Highway 330.
The winery will be on your left.
From Lexington (68 miles)
Take Interstate 75 North to exit 144 for KY-330 toward Owenton/Corinth.
Turn left onto KY-330W/Owenton Road.
Follow Highway 330 for 16 miles.
Elk Creek Winery will be on the right side.
